At SHOT Show 2020, Mossberg debuted its 940 series of gas-operated, semi-automatic shotguns following years of collaboration with competitive shooters Jerry and Lena Miculek. Following line expansions were: A premium-level semi-automatic 12 gauge with features designed for high-volume wing shooting is the 940 Pro Waterfowl (Snow Goose).

The shotgun is chambered for 12-gauge shotshells and has a gas system designed with inspiration from competitive shooting. Additionally, the 940 Pro Waterfowl can run continuously for up to 1,500 rounds using both 2 34" and 3" ammo before needing cleaning.

Further improvements to the 930-series shotgun, in the making of the 940 Pro Snow Goose, include an enlarged loading port for quad-loading in addition to modifications to the elevator and shell catch. Hunters will appreciate these touches when loading with gloved hands on late-winter hunts, in addition to enlarged controls and a cocked indicator housed within the trigger guard.

The synthetic furniture of the 940 Pro is covered in True Time Viper Snow camouflage, while the receiver, barrel, and 12-round extended magazine tube are coated in Battleship Gray Cerakote. Mossberg offers a self-draining stock that can be precisely adjusted with shims for pull length, cast, and drop. The 940 Pro Waterfowl comes with a 28" steel barrel that has a raised, vented sighting rib that is equipped with an HIVIZ fiber-optic sight. The X-Factor expanded and ported choke tube is a standard feature of the 940 Pro Waterfowl.
